Activities

Please remember that the farm is a working cattle stud as well as a guest facility and there will always be something going on. For your own safety, always check with us before you venture outside the farm house paddock.

Farm Activities

Guests are welcome to watch or join in any farm activities that are scheduled. Caution is advised at all times and children should always be accompanied by an adult when outside the farm house paddock.

Lowline cattle are small in stature and have a quiet temperament. There are generally calves around for the children to get aquainted with!

Bush walks, Bird watching and Native animals

Creeks and bushwalks abound and provide all levels of activity, rock scrambles, quiet walks in the forest and magnificent views of the Conondale Valley and Mary River Headwaters.

Bird life abounds and studies have shown 160 + species in the area, and many are known to inhabit the farm, forest & creeks of Donovans Knob. (See www.australianwildlife.org)

Native animals also thrive in the area and wallabies are always seen grazing the paddocks around the farm house. Koala, Echidna, Brush Turkeys and Possums are all found in the surrounding paddocks and forests.

Next door to the farm is the Australian Wildlife Conservancy's recent acquisition of the "Curramore Environmental Reserve" of 170 Hectares of forest which features:

  • 26 species of Mammals including the nationally threatened Grey Headed Flying Fox
  • 160 Bird Species with at least 4 of those listed as threatened
  • 50 species of Reptiles and Amphibians
  • Several Rainforest and Wet Sclerophyll Communities
  • A remarkable diversity of plants, including several threatened plant species (of which the rare vine, Aristolochia Praevenosa is one)

The "Wolli State Forest" is also within walking distance and tracks exist to explore the Western Blackall Ranges to Conondale and Kenilworth.

Guests are invited to use the Solar Heated Lap pool and enjoy swimming and basking in the sun.
